Compressed Air Study Rebates
Compressed Air Study Rebates are available for compressed air system studies to analyze the customer’s compressed air system and identify opportunities to reduce leaks and redesign or replace system components. The customer must repair at least 50% of the air loss due to leaks as identified by the study. For 50 < 100 HP systems, incentives are 100% of study cost up to $2,500. For systems ≥ 100 HP, incentives are 75% up to $15,000. The study must be pre-approved.
1. Rebates are awarded to help commercial/industrial customers implement high-efficiency measures and are available to Black Hills Energy Colorado non-residential electric customers.
2. All Custom projects require pre-approval before purchase and installation of equipment.
3. Purchase and installations must be completed between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2025. Applications for work done must be received by January 15, 2026.
4. Rebates calculated to exceed $50,000 will be evaluated to determine whether the high rebate cost is beneficial to the program. Incentives are capped at one-third of the total program incentives per facility for a given program year, or as program budget allows. A $500,000 cap will be imposed per facility or building per 2024-2025 program plan.
5. Multiple rebate applications for different measures may be submitted. Each individual measure will be evaluated on its own merits.
6. Similar measures that are proposed in different facilities or buildings will be evaluated separately.
7. All projects will be individually reviewed for cost-effectiveness and must pass Black Hills Energy cost-effectiveness test.
8. Black Hills Energy reserves the right to adjust rebate amount based on final project costs as indicated on customer provided invoices.
9. Custom rebates are based on the cost difference (incremental cost) between standard and high-efficiency equipment and systems, and the amount of energy saved. Rebates are calculated individually for each project. Projects must have an incremental payback of 1.0 year or longer. Customer savings will be based on the estimated reduction in billed energy and demand from current usage levels. The rebate per kWh savings will be a sliding scale dependent upon the total project kWh savings.
10. This program is subject to regulatory rules and orders. Black Hills Energy reserves the right to change or end any portion of this program without notice. Rebates may be limited by program funding availability.
11. New equipment must be installed on the premises and must not be purchased for resale. Used/refurbished/repaired/rebuilt equipment does not qualify for this rebate.
12. Black Hills Energy reserves the right to inspect and verify any equipment before or after the proposed project’s installation.
